Specialists from our institution and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine also made a working trip to the Kingdom of Norway as part of the implementation of grant agreement Project 101191832 — ECPP-2024-UA-EMT1
The official visit to the Kingdom of Norway was not accidental. Thanks to the support of the European Union, WHO, and the Norwegian government, six resuscitation buses have been successfully operating in Ukraine’s emergency medical system since 2022, used for inter-hospital transfers and transporting patients abroad.

In addition, Norway successfully established and classified the Norwegian Emergency Medical Team (NOR EMT) in accordance with international standards in 2018. NOR EMT demonstrated its effectiveness during missions in Samoa, Italy, Greece, and Haiti.

That is why, as part of the implementation of the grant agreement with Project 101191832 — ECPP-2024-UA-EMT1, specialists from the Institution and the Ministry of Health made a working trip to the Kingdom of Norway.
The disaster medicine team of the Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine is undergoing the process of international classification as EMT type 1 Mobile and Fixed in accordance with WHO criteria for the first time in Ukraine.

Also, during a visit to the Ministry of Health and Oslo University Hospital, a presentation was made on the experience of operating the EMS system in Ukraine during the war and the concept of its development until 2030. As a result, preliminary agreement was reached on the signing of memoranda and joint implementation of new projects.

Over two days, NOR EMT specialists provided detailed information about the process of team formation, training, creation of standard operating procedures, their practical implementation, and many other details. The experience gained will undoubtedly be used in the formation of EMT in Ukraine and its international classification in accordance with WHO requirements. This is an incredible team of professionals who are 100% dedicated to their work.
Special thanks to Steinar Olsen (Head of Division of Prehospital Services – EMS, Oslo University Hospital) and Ronald Rolfsen (Special Advisor, Division for Pre-hospital Medicine, Ambulance Department, Oslo University Hospital) for their constant support, as well as for coordinating and organizing our trip.
