Specialists of the Institution took part in this year’s European Congress on Emergency Medicine EUSEM-2024 in Copenhagen

This year’s European Congress on Emergency Medicine EUSEM-2024 (Copenhagen) was particularly productive and eventful.

Vitalii Kryliuk, Director of the Institution, held a number of meetings and negotiations, including:

1. With the President of the EUSEM Congress, regarding the organization of the panel “Emergency Medicine in Emergencies” at the next Congress-2025 in Vienna.

2. With Thomas Wilp (ICRC) to provide financial support for the purchase of fuel materials for ambulances from the southeastern regions of Ukraine and to facilitate the training of Ukrainian instructors at the EMC course under the new EMERGO program on mass casualty management in the pre-hospital and early hospital phase, which will be held in February 2025 in Sweden; purchase of laptops for the training departments of the EMC.

3. With Eric Revue (France), chairman of the pre-hospital section of the Congress, he discussed the possibility of holding a joint Ukrainian-French conference on the provision of emergency medical services. Experience of Ukraine.

4. With colleagues from the Cluj Medical University (Romania), we discussed the exchange of experience in training interns from the Ministry of Emergencies (as well as the analysis of their curriculum) and the conduct of technical training courses for Ukrainian specialists in the field of emergency situations at the Cluj Medical University in Romania.

5. With the Angels initiative, they discussed ways to involve all EMCs and MCs of Ukraine in implementing a culture of monitoring the quality of medical care for patients with suspected AMI, as well as the possibility of the Ukrainian EMS team’s participation in the Championship, which is held annually as part of this Congress.

6. Met with Elizabet iNem from the Portuguese EMT, who recently conducted the international preverification of Cadus as an EMT, type-1 M, to secure her advice and support for a similar certification of our national team next year.

In addition, together with colleagues (Halyna Tsymbalyuk and Larysa Chubenko), they took part in a master class for disaster medicine specialists (EMERGO Train System), made three panel presentations on the peculiarities of the EMC system in the context of the war in Ukraine, as well as training of EMC personnel on responding to mass casualties; got acquainted with new developments and technical means in the field of EMC.

We are confident that active and open international communication is the key to strengthening Ukraine’s EMS system in times of war.
