Employees of the Institution took part in a three-day joint training on deploying the DMT’s capabilities

Last week, in preparation for the international classification according to WHO standards, the staff of the Institution took part in a three-day joint training on deploying the capacities of Type 1 (fixed) disaster medicine teams from Samaritan’s Purse with the support of the World Health Organization Ukraine.

💪 Why is it important?

Such measures help us to be prepared for emergencies of any scale, in particular, to ensure rapid deployment of the hospital, high-quality medical care and coordinated work between all departments, to practice and update the developed standard operating procedures. This type of structure meets international WHO classification standards and provides the ability to provide primary medical care in an emergency with minimal preparation time, which subsequently saves lives and minimizes the risk of complications for victims.

The training was aimed at adapting modern standards of disaster medicine to the realities of Ukraine, taking into account the challenges of wartime. The training participants had the opportunity to work out the step-by-step process of deploying a Type 1 (fixed) DMT, setting up and ensuring its autonomous operation.

In addition, as part of the practical exercise, the employees familiarized themselves with the rehearsal of complex scenarios, which included:

✅ Organization of medical triage.
✅ Coordination of actions between emergency medical services.
✅ Providing medical care at different stages.
✅ Autonomous functioning of DMT units type 1 (fixed), taking into account limited resources and capabilities.

💪 Our goals:

• Increasing the level of readiness of medical teams to work in extreme conditions.
• Strengthening the capacity of Ukraine’s emergency medical care and disaster medicine system to respond promptly to emergencies.
• Creating a professional environment for the exchange of experience and implementation of best practices in the field of disaster medicine.

We sincerely thank the World Health Organization (WHO) and Samaritan’s Purse for their support and the opportunity to gain valuable experience and certainly look forward to further fruitful cooperation and support!

Together, we are building a system that can withstand the most difficult challenges!
