Colleagues from Japan visited the Institution to familiarize themselves with the Ukrainian system of providing assistance to victims at the pre-hospital and hospital stages
Representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Disaster Medical Assistance Teams (DMAT) visited our institution to familiarize themselves with the Ukrainian system of providing assistance to victims at the pre-hospital and hospital stages.
Main aspects of the visit:
1. Familiarization with the emergency medical care system:
• Peculiarities of pre-hospital care, in particular under martial law (Center of Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine in Kyiv).
• Organization of the hospital stage for victims with injuries of varying severity (Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 1).
2. Presentation of the work of disaster medicine teams:
• Structure, functioning and role of teams in emergency response.
• Features of the deployment and operation of a fixed disaster medicine type 1 team.
3. Training for disaster medicine teams:
• Conducting training on the functioning of logistics workers, including their role in activating disaster medicine teams.
• Developing mechanisms for rapid deployment of resources, communication and support for the smooth functioning of teams in emergency areas.
4. Providing psychosocial assistance:
• A system to support victims and rescuers in crisis situations.
• Integrating psychological care into the activities of disaster medicine teams.
5. Cooperation with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine:
• The work of SES medical units in emergency zones.
• Activities of Radiation, Chemical, Biological and Nuclear (CBRN) Intelligence Units in the Context of Medical Support.
This visit is aimed at exchanging experience between Ukraine and Japan in the field of disaster medicine, improving the organization of medical care and training of key personnel, as well as strengthening international cooperation in emergency response.
