Our specialists made another monitoring visit to three more EMC centers, namely: Cherkasy, Kirovograd and Kherson
The Foundation’s staff conducted regular monitoring visits to Cherkasy, Kirovohrad and Kherson regional centers for emergency medical care and disaster medicine.
During the visits, the issue of the Centers’ readiness to respond to emergencies that could lead to a large number of victims was studied in detail. The following points were discussed and evaluated:
Organization of the work of disaster medicine teams, as well as the procedure and algorithms for their actions in case of emergencies.
Coordination of EMC and MC activities with other services during emergencies.
Operation of all components of the operational dispatch service, including dispatching and call routing processes.
Availability of reserves and resources to ensure the effectiveness of emergency medical services in the regions.
Safety aspects of work during emergencies.
Particular attention was paid to the work of the training departments of the institutions, focusing on the specifics of personnel training in the training departments. Methods and approaches to training, as well as practical aspects of training and simulation activities were discussed. Attention was focused on developing and maintaining the necessary rapid response skills of employees who have to act in extreme conditions, especially during emergency response. The issue of training paramedics and emergency medical technicians was also raised.
Discussions during all the visits focused on financial support for the effective functioning of institutions and optimization of resources needed to improve emergency preparedness. The need for rational use of funding to ensure rapid response was emphasized.
Communication with the heads of the Centers and their teams made it possible to better understand the current problems and ways to improve the emergency medical care and disaster medicine system in Ukraine.
