Specialists of the Institution took part in a working meeting on standardization of burn care
This week, we took part in an important two-day working meeting dedicated to standardizing burn care during mass emergencies. The event, supported by the WHO, brought together representatives of the Ministry of Health, healthcare facilities, burn specialists, emergency medical services and international organizations (Global Respond Management, Red Cross, etc.)
The main topic is to improve the readiness of Ukraine’s medical component to respond to incidents with a large number of victims, including burns of various types and complexity. It also focused on the development of the international Strategy of Disaster Medicine Teams in Ukraine. The meeting presented WHO recommendations, the key aspects of which are:
• Multidisciplinary approach: creation of specialized teams for effective response and assessment of burns (BATs).
• Multi-level planning (local, national and international levels).
• Compliance with minimum standards: ensuring a unified approach to treatment.
Participation in this meeting was extremely important for our Institution and provided an opportunity to exchange experience with leading experts, learn about best international practices and contribute to the development of effective strategies. We are convinced that the implementation of these standards is critically important for Ukraine, given the overload of the healthcare system.
